Indie podcasters
This is for independent podcasters, people making a show with their own time and their own money, usually around a job, who'd like to sort the important stuff on day one instead of finding out on episode six what they should have done.
It's a good fit if:
- You've got an idea, or half of one, and haven't recorded anything yet
- You're doing it yourself, or with a co-host, without a production company behind you
- You started once, got a few episodes in and stalled, and want another go with an actual plan
- You don't mind written homework, because the workbook is where the work happens and the videos are me explaining it
Bear in mind why the planning matters. A lot of this workbook is aimed at getting you through episode four, five and six, when nobody's listening yet and it would be very easy to quietly stop.
It isn't for:
- Businesses and brands that want a company podcast. That's what the studio's for, so talk to us at LaunchPod Studios instead
- Anyone who wants it done for them. You do the work here, I show you how
- Anyone after one to one time with me. There are no calls. There's no email support. It's self-guided.
- Anyone looking for a get-big-fast plan. Section One has you do the growth maths properly, and even at a generous 20% growth every episode, ten listeners turns into about 74 by episode twelve. If 74 people choosing to listen to you sounds worth it, you'll get a lot out of this. If it doesn't, save your money.

11 sections, from idea to launch plan
Eleven sections. Each one is a workbook section to fill in and a 5 to 7 minute video of me going through it.

Watch, then write it down
Get access
When the course opens you get access straight away. You get the online workbook with the videos, plus a PDF of the workbook to download and keep.
Watch, then write
Each section is a video and a set of pages. Watch me go through it, then fill the pages in while it's fresh. The videos are short on purpose, so it's a bit over an hour of me in total, because I'd rather you spent the time writing than watching.
A couple a day
Do a couple of sections a day and you're through it in a week. Some of it you'll actually do as you go, like registering the domain, grabbing the handles and setting up hosting, so by the end a fair chunk of the admin is already done as well as planned.
Then launch
The week is for the work, and the launch itself lands a little after. There's more on that in the FAQs below, and I'd rather you knew now than found out from Apple.

James Alexander
Once upon a time, believe it or not, I was a DJ. I've been doing it since the late nineties, came up through events production, and around 2019 I ended up in podcasting and set up LaunchPod Studios in Mill Hill, North London, in August 2020.
These days there are nine of us, we work on around 35 shows a week, and we're getting close to 100 clients since we started, some of whom I still don't think we've really got the right to be working with. This workbook is the stuff I find myself saying to new podcasters over and over, written down so you can do it at your kitchen table.
Course questions
Will my podcast actually be live in a week?
Probably not, and I'd be lying if I said otherwise. You can do all the work in a week. Getting listed takes longer, because Apple reviews every new show and doesn't promise how long that takes, so the workbook has you submit your trailer to every platform at least two weeks before launch day. The plan in Section Ten has you launching in week three.
Do I need to buy any kit first?
No. Section Eleven starts with the phone you've already got and works up through beginner, intermediate and advanced setups, with what each bit is for. Spend money once you know you're going to keep going.
Do I get any time with you?
No, it's self-guided, so it's me on video and you with the workbook. There's no email support. If you'd like someone to actually make the show with you, that's what LaunchPod Studios does day to day, and you can get in touch about that separately.
I've already put out a few episodes. Is it worth it for me?
If you're early on, probably yes. The audience, structure, repurposing, community and money sections all apply whether you're on episode zero or episode eight, and the identity section is a decent way of checking whether the show you've started is the one you meant to make. It's built around launching though, so if you're fifty episodes in, it's not really for you.
How long do I get access for?
Lifetime access. You get the online workbook with the videos, plus a PDF of the workbook to download and keep.
Can I get a refund?
At checkout you tick a box to get access straight away, which means the usual 14-day cancellation right for digital content no longer applies. If you change your mind within 14 days and haven't gone past Section One, email hello@launchpodstudios.com and we'll refund you.
